Prior to the start of the University of Mary Washington (UMW) Board of Visitors Annual Planning Retreat, newly appointed members of the UMW Board of Visitors will join the UMW Foundation Board at a welcome reception, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the Kingsmill Resort and Conference Center River View Room, 1010 Kingsmill Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. There will be no University business conducted at this event. The UMW Board of Visitors Annual Planning Retreat will commence at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 3, and will conclude at approximately noon on Sunday, August 5, 2018. The purpose of the meeting is a planning retreat for University and Board operations. Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held at the Kingsmill Conference Center, 1010 Kingsmill Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. On Friday, August 3, at 8:00 a.m., Acting Rector Crislip and President Paino will meet with new members of the Board of Visitors for breakfast at the Kingsmill Elements Restaurant. Following the meeting, the new board member orientation session will be held in the Wareham Room. At 1:30 p.m., the Board of Visitors and President’s Cabinet will meet jointly with the UMW Foundation Board in the Tazewell Room. At 3:45 p.m., the Board of Visitors and President’s Cabinet will convene for their first session in the Wareham Room. A joint reception with the UMW Foundation Board will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Kingsmill James River Ballroom Pre-Function Area and a dinner will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Kings Arms Tavern, 416 East Duke of Gloucester Street, Williamsburg, Virginia. There will be no University business conducted at these events. On Saturday, August 4, at 8:30 a.m., the Board and President’s Cabinet will hold a morning session in the Wareham Room, taking a lunch break at approximately noon. Board and Cabinet sessions will continue through the afternoon. At 6:00 p.m., a reception and dinner will be held in the Kingsmill River View Room. There will be no University business conducted at the evening event. On Sunday, August 5, the Board of Visitors will reconvene for a business meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Wareham Room. This is an open meeting with one scheduled closed meeting as permitted by the Code of Virginia. No public comment will be taken.
