DMAS ED Care Coordination Workgroup
Jul 28, 2016 1:00 PM
The General Assembly directed DMAS to convene an ED Care Coordination Workgroup of our Medicaid Physician and Managed Care Liaison Committee that Katherine Neuhausen, MD, MPH, will co-chair with Debbie Condrey, VDH Chief Information Officer. The goals of this workgroup are to develop a statewide ED care coordination program for our 1.1 million Medicaid members with a focus on ED “super-utilizers;” to identify best practices for ED diversion; and to strengthen information exchange between hospitals, EDs, primary care providers, and behavioral health providers. Our workgroup will discuss options for implementation of an ED Information Exchange (EDIE) in Virginia and the interface with the HIE. This initiative aligns with DMAS priorities including the Managed Long Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) program, Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Benefit, and Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP). This second meeting on July 28 will include presentation and Q&A on Oregon's ED care coordination program by Susan Kirchoff, RN, MBA, Oregon Health Leadership Council and discussion of Virginia's needs for an ED care coordination program and best practices.
