The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold a public meeting on the development of a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for Woods Creek in Lexington and Rockbridge County. The meeting is an opportunity for DEQ to introduce the water quality improvement process in Virginia, known as the TMDL process to interested persons, invite their participation and solicit their contributions, showcase the water quality studies done by local school students, and review next steps. A public comment period will begin on October 5, 2016 and end on November 7, 2016. Information on the development of the TMDLs for these impairments is available upon request. Questions or information requests should be addressed to the DEQ contact person listed. Please note, all written comments should include name, address, and telephone number of the person submitting the comments and should be sent to DEQ contact person. Notice of this meeting and public comment period appears in the September 19, 2016 Virginia Register. In the case of inclement weather, the meeting will be postponed until Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 6.30pm.
