The Virginia Board of Education and Virginia Department of Education are in the process of conducting a comprehensive review of child care licensing regulations and is convening a series of work groups related to the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers and Standards for Licensed Family Day Homes to inform the revised regulations. The work group will convene on March 16, 2022 at 1 PM. The meeting will be held in Conference Rooms D and E, located on the first floor of the James Monroe Building, 101 N. 14th Street, Richmond, VA 23219. The meeting is open to the public. The agenda for this meeting can be found at the bottom of this page under the heading of 2022 Child Care Licensing Regulatory Work Groups. Based on CDC guidance, masks will be optional based on the transmission level of "medium risk" for Richmond and the surrounding counties. Should this transmission level be elevated to "high risk," masks will be strongly encouraged. Please note the Security Protocols for the James Monroe Building: All visitors to the James Monroe Building must show Photo ID and sign in at the security desk on the first floor. When you arrive, please pass through the security screening, sign-in at the security desk and let them know you are attending the Board of Education meeting. All visitors must have an escort to and from the security desk to the meeting location. Please allow time for these security protocols. Security desk hours are from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
