A Department of Environmental Quality public hearing on the draft permit for a modification to the Tazewell County Sanitary Landfill. Tazewell County has applied for a modification to a permit that allows the County to operate the existing Tazewell County Sanitary Landfill in Tazewell, Virginia. This modification to the permit would allow expansion of the facility to include Phase V and to modify the alternate final caps to include additional alternatives. Permit modules are updated to meet current requirements and incorporate all previous modifications. The draft permit is available at https://www.deq.virginia.gov/permits/public-notices/land-protection on the DEQ website. The public may also review the draft permit and application at the Tazewell County Court House, 315 Court Street, 3rd Floor, Suite 318, Tazwell, VA 24651 or at DEQ's Southwest Regional Office, 355-A Deadmore Street, Abingdon, VA 24210. The public comment period begins on August 5, 2023, and ends on September 27, 2023.
