Christopher Newport University’s Board of Visitors will meet on the 2nd Floor of the Freeman Center conference wing, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Newport News, Virginia (unless otherwise specified) on Monday and Tuesday, September 9-10, 2024. The purpose of the meetings is to conduct regular business of the Board. Monday, September 9, there will be a welcome breakfast for new Board of Visitors members from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in Christopher Newport Hall, Brauer Room followed by an orientation for new members from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. in the Freeman Center, Room 201. The Executive Committee will meet in Room 201 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. followed a Board of Visitors welcome lunch from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Room 101. Academic Affairs Committee and Athletics Committee will meet simultaneously from 1:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Rooms 201 and 202 respectively. Operations, Audit and Risk Committee, Student Life Committee and University Advancement Committee will meet simultaneously from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Rooms 201, 202 and 101 respectively. The Board of Visitors will hold a faculty social on September 9 at 4:45 p.m. on the McKnight Veranda at The Gregory P. Klich Alumni House (72 Shoe Lane, Newport News, Virginia) followed by a Board of Visitors reception at 6:00 p.m. at the University President’s House (1205 Riverside Drive, Newport News, Virginia) – no official business will be conducted at either of these events.
