PERMIT NAME AND NUMBER: Cascades Containerboard Packaging- Bear Island Industrial Landfill, Solid Waste Permit 573. PERMIT APPLICANT: Cascades Containerboard Packaging- Bear Island. FACILITY NAME AND LOCATION: Cascades Containerboard Packaging- Bear Island Industrial Landfill, 10026 Old Ridge Road, Ashland, Virginia. The facility is located on State Routh 738, approximately two miles east of Interstate 95 in northern Hanover County. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Cascades Containerboard Packaging- Bear Island has applied for a modification to a permit that allows the Cascades Containerboard Packaging- Bear Island Industrial Landfill to operate an existing landfill in Hanover County, Virginia. This modification to the permit would allow a horizontal expansion (Cell 8), which horizontally connects Cells 1, 2, and 3 to Cells 5 (partial), 6, and 7. The other portion of Cell 8 connects a piggyback liner system on Cell 0 to the liner on Cell 1, and to the liner on Cell 4 and partial Cell 5 to the south.
